Hardscapes

Patios, Driveways & Walkways

A distinguishing factor of us is the level of detail we pay attention to when building stone or paver structures. Our landscaping crews are hardscape experts that bring decades of combined experience to the table. Whether you prefer natural stone, or the practical beauty of concrete pavers, we’ll construct a tasteful and elegant patio, driveway or walkway that will provide years of use.

Boulder & Retaining Walls and Custom Steps

Sloped areas can benefit from the construction of retaining walls to provide more level areas for planting and recreation, as well as erosion and runoff control. Walls constructed within the landscape can also serve to give definition by outlining your property, add privacy, or to add additional seating for guests with a seating freestanding wall adjacent to your patio. We can design and build both functional and decorative walls using boulders or manufactured block. In addition to walls, we also build block stairs to make the walk down to the lake easier and safer.

General Landscaping

Mulch

Mulch installed in your landscape beds will not only give your property a crisp, clean and manicured look, but it will also drastically reduce the amount of time spent weeding, watering and fighting pests. Mulching also helps with erosion control and keeps dirt from splashing up on your flowers, home, and hardscape features when it rains.

In newly constructed landscapes we recommend a minimum depth of 3-4″ to allow new plantings to retain adequate moisture, if your mulch just requires a freshening up, we generally install at a depth of 1″-2″. Contact us today to inquire about the mulch type and color varieties we offer!

Decorative Landscape Rock

Rock gardens give a great visual interest and natural beauty to what could be otherwise a barren area. Rock gardens are also very useful in areas of landscape where the goal is centrally focused on very low maintenance. Rock provides an added bonus with the ease of blowing out rock beds (compared to mulch beds) in the event of leaves or grass becoming present in the area. No matter the original purpose, landscape rock is a naturally beautiful way to add color, texture and visual interest to your landscape.

Edging

Edging is imperative for any landscape or garden bed. If edging is not used, there is no degree of separation between the material in the bed (rock or much) and the turf, which could cause problems in the future such as a stray rock getting caught by a mower blade and being accidentally thrown at a high rate of speed.

Plantings

Trees, Shrubs, Perennials & Annual Flowers

Trees not only provide shade for your house (allowing it to stay cooler in the summer) but also create great aesthetics. Bring together an assortment of evergreen and deciduous shrubs to splash in some color and you have the combination for an amazing looking landscape.

Our team will help you pick out plants that will thrive in the tough northern Minnesota climate. We ensure the placement of each planting is in the proper location for its individual shade/sun requirements, soil moisture, and equally important – optimal color balance. At the completion of your project we provide you with information on how to care for them during the critical initial rooting period and continual maintenance and watering.

Lawn Renovations

Grading, Sod, Seed & Hydroseeding

Whether you have just built a new cabin and need a final grade with black dirt, or recently renovated your outdoor space and need new turf, we are here to do surface prep and install your new lawn. We use top quality Kentucky Bluegrass sod as well as hydroseed and traditional grass seed.
